22A elevator pitch 2

Last time, I was told that I lost energy towards the end. So I tried my best to make it somewhat consistent and keep it sort of energetic throughout. That was very difficult to do, as I get nervous as it goes on, but I tried to do so.

Ten resources

Human capital- I know many people who play instruments. This is valuable because I can get              their input and get their help with doing everything. This is also rare because it’s hard to get   musicians together on anything!
Financial capital- I can finance things with the help of my friends and my job. Many friends and         family would be willing to help, which is valuable.
Customer service- I will be sure to help everyone with help and provide a comprehensive guide     about playing and make sure I have people ready to answer anything extra that might come up.
Chord Guide- a guide of all chords. Many services have things like this, but I would like to    produce a fun and comprehensive, as well as aesthetically pleasing, guide to every chord. I have      yet to come across any that make it necessarily fun to look up. I already have many chords           known and could easily do something like this, with the help of someone to work on the more   technical aspect.

Keys- Many programs offer a key chord progression generator, but I would like to take it a step f             further and offer people the ability to incorporate modes and even some cool sounding chords     outside of the keys. This key generator can help people get song ideas off of the ground. This        might be sort of easy for others to copy, but I think I could offer a fun and new way to do this.

Not-well developed market- the market I’m working in is very badly developed, plagued with      expensive or cheaply-made items. This gives me an advantage to corner a section with       something that/s never been FULLY done before, only attempted.

Social Capital- Like above, musicians coming together work well when they all have the same             goal and don’t let personal interests get in the way. This is the perfect opportunity to do this.

Knowledge- I am already well-versed in all of this stuff and have seen every corner of the    market and what people have intended to do. This is valuable since some people go in not really   knowing what people want, but I am on the side of people wanting this I am ready to work to            make everything better.

Organizational Culture- Lots of people would be willing to work on a program like this and        would be excited to use it, and I intend to get people ready for all of this to go down. A good      organizational culture is very valuable and I’m excited to get it ready.

Maps- Mapping out the program from each section to section will be very helpful. This is what I      plan to be especially special, getting you from chord to chord and key to key. It can play you two                chords next to each other to see how they sound.

My top resource is social capital. A good network of musicians to have helping around like this is very important to help anyone using the program and helping me get it off of the ground.

I read the book Cognitive Surplus
1.       The book had a general theme involving the amount of time that many people can spend freely. It argued that a cognitive surplus was coming about, which involves the amount of time we can use to search for and learn things on our own. This is a global resource that impacts almost everyone.
2.       The book was definitely all about a sense of connection and networking, using your modern resources to get ahead. Getting ahead is a huge part of entrepreneurship, and the book really connected well with that theme.
3.       An exercise I would like to make could go as follows. One section of the book discussed means and the impact of media on civilians, companies, and governments. I would like to see how different people react to different sites when the sites look more or less malicious and shoddily constructed, to see if that deters people from accessing. This could put into conflict his idea of the cognitive surplus.

4.       When reading the book, it discussed cognitive surplus. I had never heard of this or considered it, but all of a sudden everything made sense. This generation is much different than the last, and thanks to the internet, much more willing to learn about anything. This is definitely an upside to the future of entrepreneurship and thinking as a whole.

20A

Person One- Matt. A guitarist and singer, as well as a promoter, of several bands.
Domain Expert
I have known him for a while and just texted him.
He writes a lot of music, and would absolutely use a program like this, especially with chord changes. He says he would ask other people in his “domain” whether or not they agreed with him, but seemed to be positive that they would think so.
They know a lot of musicians, some of whom are big and have ties to the industry and songwriter corporations.
Person Two- Johann. A public relations employee for a well-known music software brand, who instructed that I could use him if I didn’t reveal any information about what he works for.
Important Supplier
I found their company through a website and emailed him.
He will be able to get me into contact with some more higher-ups and pass along ideas and such. He doesn’t really want anything in return other than privacy.
This is great for me to have, as I can be more closely connected to the people who could distribute programs such as these.
Person Three- Tony. Works with a lot of songwriters and an expert on chords and keys.
Market Expert.
Really understands music theory and could help make sure everything’s accurate.
Known him for a while as well, but not too well.
He thinks the idea is fun and would do anything to help!
They will be able to make sure everything is perfect and easy-to-use.

This will be a great networking experience, and I’m glad that I already know a decent amount of people who write songs. They will be very helpful as I go forth in my opportunities!

19A Idea Napkin

1.       I am Daniel Barrios. I am a musician who is very passionate about the oceans. I made it to the rank of Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts of America. I aspire to unite the world in caring about our environment and hope that together we can work to rescue our dwindling planet. This grand scheme is obviously important, but at the moment, I feel as if I’d be better at bringing more superficial and temporary joy to people. That’s why I’ve decided to work on this music/songwriting program.
2.       My service is a software that helps identify keys in music. When I first started songwriting, I had a difficult time learning keys, and found no program that helped me. What was helpful, however, was a chart that listed all of the keys and the chords in them, as well as the I II III IV V V VII configuration. A program would have greatly sped up the learning process, as well as easily helped me learn songs by ear by telling what key it is in, as opposed to me playing every chord until one matches.
3.       I’m offering this to musicians and songwriters, as well as people who are simply just interested in music theory. All of my customers want to be able to recognize keys and learn songs, so they all have in common a desire to learn. And people who already know chords are always on the lookout for more ways to play them, so I can help with that!
4.       This would have greatly helped me, and I spoke to some of my songwriting friends. They all agree that a key recognition software is something truly lacking on the market.
5.       What sets me apart from everyone else-
There is no program that will both provide the key of any song you input and also teach you about the structure and keys while listening. I am offering not only a learning software but a helpful tool that will aid in songwriting for any aspiring musician.

I feel like all of these ideas definitely fit together and run in a common theme. Some of my accomplishments and personal facts might not seem to have much to do with a program about making music, but be assured that each and every one of them has helped me become the person that I am today- whether that’s being an Eagle Scout or being passionate about the environment.

The feedback I received for my original Idea Napkin was very positive, so I didn’t change much about it, although I tried to edit it to be geared more towards music lovers and more fleshed out.

16A

1.       Five ways in which my human capital is truly unique.
I enjoy things a lot of other people don’t. Whether that’s music, certain foods, or movies, I find myself at odds with many people over certain things.
I don’t feel happy but I know that I am.
I still occasionally obsess over dinosaurs despite being almost twenty years old. I try to keep my excitement about them within me so my homies don’t get too uncomfortable. As long as I release it in small doses, they get excited too and are willing to freak out about them conmigo.
My entire family speaks Spanish, but I don’t. I can understand it fine, but instead I chose to learn ASL when I was younger to communicate with a friend of mine.
I own over twenty-five instruments, but have only mastered six or seven of them.
2.
INTERVIEW ONE- with My girlfriend

INTERVIEW TWO WITH SHAWN (ROOMMATE)

https://vocaroo.com/i/s0owZJvmIxjU

INTERVIEW THREE WITH ROOMMATE 2 (ADAM, NOT IN TOWN AT THE MOMENT, OVER PHONE)
Shawn referred to me as very interested in many things, but only obsessed with four or five. He talked about my love for music, as well as movies and some books, and how I was always getting on people to clean their dishes.
INTERVIEW FOUR  WITH BANDMATE, RECORDING ACCIDENTALLY DELETED

Talked about how I was very passionate and eager to get things done, as well as ready to tackle any problems. She thought that I knew how to work through problems and could easily find solutions without making everything overly difficult.

INTERVIEW FIVE WITH MOTHER (OVER PHONE)
She found me to be especially creative and funny, as well as clean. Commented on how I tried to stay clean the best I could, even if that involved just shoving everything under a bed. She talked about my songwriting and how passionate I was in music making and writing. However, she said I wasn’t the best at telling the truth all of the time and was a little too “brooding” occasionally.

3.       They see me pretty closely to how I see myself. I am eager and excitable, but also very lazy and set in my ways about numerous things. I enjoy exploring when I have time and play a lot of instruments, and watch shows. They all seem to think I’m creative but I worry too much about the opinions of other people, which I had never really considered. They’re right, though. However, I didn’t agree that I’m overly clean. My room might be clean, but half of the stuff strewn about in the rest of the apartment is mine.

17A-Elevator Pitch

I actually realized that I must have missed the last elevator pitch, as I did not do the assignment. So this is my first

18A- Create a Customer Avatar

A twenty-something year old man or woman who composes a lot of music in their spare time would be my customer's avatar. This avatar also enjoys reading books, watching movies, and hanging out with his friends whenever he gets the chance, whether or not they're playing music. He drives an old SUV with plenty of storage for lugging musical equipment around. He really tends to enjoy shows such as Bojack Horseman, Arrested Development, and Blue Mountain State, but only to make fun of the characters! He usually listens to a lot of indie stuff, such as Animal Collective or the Mountain Goats, but will often pretend to like critically acclaimed hip-hop just so he can stay up to date with the times and what music is being well-received in this day and age. He has no children, but is in a long-term and long-distance relationship that is surprisingly going well. He supported Bernie Sanders in the 2016 election, but became much less outspoken and political when Donald Trump won. He enjoys hiking and nature, as well as scuba diving and basketball. He has a group of friends who often follow his lead in trends, but he has never been especially popular or well-known.

I have some in common with this avatar, such as enjoying nature, music, and TV. I based some of these facts on me, in fact! Therefore, it is not a coincidence, since I would greatly love the product that I am creating.
