A twenty-something year old man or woman who composes a lot of music in their spare time would be my customer's avatar. This avatar also enjoys reading books, watching movies, and hanging out with his friends whenever he gets the chance, whether or not they're playing music. He drives an old SUV with plenty of storage for lugging musical equipment around. He really tends to enjoy shows such as Bojack Horseman, Arrested Development, and Blue Mountain State, but only to make fun of the characters! He usually listens to a lot of indie stuff, such as Animal Collective or the Mountain Goats, but will often pretend to like critically acclaimed hip-hop just so he can stay up to date with the times and what music is being well-received in this day and age. He has no children, but is in a long-term and long-distance relationship that is surprisingly going well. He supported Bernie Sanders in the 2016 election, but became much less outspoken and political when Donald Trump won. He enjoys hiking and nature, as well as scuba diving and basketball. He has a group of friends who often follow his lead in trends, but he has never been especially popular or well-known.
I have some in common with this avatar, such as enjoying nature, music, and TV. I based some of these facts on me, in fact! Therefore, it is not a coincidence, since I would greatly love the product that I am creating.
Hi Danny,
ReplyDeleteYou did a good job at really getting into the psychology and lifestyle of the customer. You showed the kind of personality traits that customers of your product share and that would be extremely important when doing advertising. I like that you based some of the customer avatar’s traits on you because you know yourself the best. Therefore, if you target people like you, you would know exactly what they like and need.
It was a very entertaining post.
Hi Danny! This avatar is super specific and I got a real sense of who your target audience is (and who you are) from it. I like that you based most of the avatar off of yourself, since you are a prospective consumer of the product. It helps to be part of your target audience, because you can criticize the product with better accuracy if you know what you're talking about. Great post!
ReplyDeleteHi Danny. I appreciate that you took the time to create an actual avatar and posted the image for us to view. Your avatar’s description of what he does in his spare time, what he drives, etc. and the reasoning behind each of these traits was very well done. This description truly helped me envision the your potential customer, or perhaps yourself.
